Is it the same psychologist and psychoanalyst?
No, not the same.
A psychoanalyst takes the symptom as a warning that something is not right, a sign that this "calling attention" to the need to rethink who we are and what we do to stop this way of getting upset that we have. In this way, it is the primary symptom to disappear, since this provides invaluable information on the subject himself, to know whether and what led him to have this discomfort. This perspective points to a change in the way of being and relating that invariably lead to the disappearance of symptoms as initially presented.
A psychologist, in general, will aim to remove the symptom, with a range of techniques, assumptions and / or recommendations. That is not aimed at a change of "self" and how to link to, but aims to "take" a number of tools to ease the discomfort. Taking this perspective, there is a risk that the previous problem (symptom), arises with another mode (other symptoms), as "being" (the way of being) of the person in question was not modified.
Now, to explore one's self, to conduct a psychoanalysis, it is necessary that the person is "not overwhelmed" by which, if the symptom does not allow "live" even a psychoanalyst implement a number of procedures the intention that the person relief from the discomfort and so he can talk about what happens to you, you can explore ways to engage and to "be". In this sense, these techniques have the same purpose as the medication: providing the conditions for a therapeutic treatment.
Psychoanalytic technique
For psychoanalysis, conflict has its roots in the unconscious that is not observable by the patient ... One goal of the therapeutic process is to overcome the resistance: these are modes of treating himself learned in early childhood that prevent the person knows issues and trends of himself that were rejected by supposing that were dangerous, and that this fact alone "accidentally" arise in the consciousness through "lapses" (say or do something that contradicts what you wanted to say or do), dreams, in the same relationship with the therapist, or jokes. The psychoanalyst used primarily to carry out treatment, "free association", "transfer" and "interpretation" of what the patient says, or less said, what he says without meaning to, and possibly some sleep. However, these procedures may be supplemented, if necessary, medication and / or application of appropriate techniques for each case: techniques to reduce severe symptoms, for the treatment of pathologies of consumption (drugs), treatment group, and so on.
Free association is that the patient put into words what comes to mind, their occurrences, their associations, without devaluing any occurrence, leaving aside the criticism, do not reject an idea distasteful or shocking.
The psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott stresses the importance of "the analistano know the answers, except to the extent that the patient has given the keys. The analyst takes the keys and makes interpretations."
When speaking of transfer refers to the fact that the patient transfers, republished, reproduced on the person of the analyst relational forms, claims of love or hate that really were experienced in early childhood in relation to parents or someone significant . The transfer becomes one of the best ways to make the unconscious conscious because you can see in action the patient's relational modes. Being able to observe these modes of relating, the subject is provided to rectify the conditions that mode of being and old link, but that turned unchanging remain unconscious so. In other words: Healing through the discovery of the patient's problematic relational modes, updated and put into act in the same relationship with the therapist, creating a space for development of these relational types, allowing the patient to generate a new link mode by and for himself.
It promotes a profound change in personality through observation of their conflicts brought into play in the relationship with the therapist. It aims to understand the problems of the patient and then to demystify it, question it, descomprenderla break in the sense or senses with those arguments that cause the suffering of the person.
It gives the patient a large role in the process, since it is the same one who will find their way relational and motivations of their conflicts: in this way is allowed gradually to discover or subjective personal responsibility in relation to the internal or vividos.Este events process is often accompanied by a paper on the trends found in all humans to be resistant to change.
Psychoanalytic therapy works on two levels: changes the consciousness and the unconscious acts directly through transformation of internal object relations through the therapeutic relationship.
Applicable to all clinical, whichever adapted to the particular characteristics of each problem.
