Why do I need a website?

Although the Internet has been around for a long time and many people are "educated" of the Internet, most have little understanding of what a web site and what it can do for their business.

A website has anything and everything you want it to be. Let me elaborate on this.

If you have a business and want to expand markets, build a website.

If you have a business and want to improve customer satisfaction, creating a web site.

If you have a business and want to exploit the technology, while remaining fairly impartial in technology at a basic level, you create a website.

If you want to sell to customers outside the geographic boundaries, to build a website.

If you want your friends and family to view pictures, communicate with you, build a website.

If you are just starting your business and need a way to inform potential customers about you and your business, you build a website.

As you can see, a website has many uses. It was not uncommon in the early days (6-7 years) of the Internet to see "This is me and my dog" websites. However, the trend has changed now, and commercial sites have taken precedence.

One thing I like about the Web and the Internet than the traditional (print) media is the fact that changes and updates can be (almost) instantly. Try that in print.

As well, a website can be made truly dynamic and flexible, making it almost completely customizable for each user, giving them a unique, personal touch.

In my work, I come across tons of questions about what is really a website and what should I do to build a website for my company.

I point out below some of the key criteria you need to start with a website. Remember, these are my thoughts and opinions. If you are confused, send me an email to epicardo@netmedian.com.

1. Your domain name: The domain name identifies you and gives you a unique identity on the Internet. Domain names are with. In the days before. Com domain name was the most popular. It is largely even today, although many other extensions (. Net. Biz. TV) are gaining popularity. Shop around before buying a domain bearing in mind that the cheapest may not necessarily be the best.

2. A web host: Your web site must reside on a computer (usually called the web host) running special programs (usually web server among other things) and is connected to the Internet. And 'through this computer that your information can be seen by prospects / customers around the world.

3. A Web site: This is simply a collection of pages, images and information that reflects you and your business. Creating websites is an entirely different subject and I want to address this issue in separate posts. If you need to know right now, I e-mail or visit my website and view the Web page design.

4. Web Content: You can read the newspaper teh pictures every day with the same headings and information? You could stop reading, right? Well, the web is the same way. New and fresh content keeps your site alive and in search engines happy. The content that is relevant to your business always brings back visitors. In fact, if the content is really good, others may start linking to it or promote it, giving you added links and visitors.

5. Visitors: Build It and they come? Unfortunately, this is not true with the Internet. Once a website has been built, there are some 'other assets that must be done to get your visitors to visit your site (also called views, in general). This opens the topic of Internet Marketing, another of my favorites. However, it may choose between a series of posts later, as can be more or less exhaustive. You can visit my website section on Internet Marketing to get a sneak peek.

6. Other useful and necessary things: In addition to the above points, you also need a good sales copy (stuff that people / perspectives to read) to convert visitors into buyers, you must develop a good list to list to collect such a list by offering products and completing these buyers. you also need to automate some processes back-end so as not to waste time processing each. transaction, query or request from visitors / customers

This can be done for a small or medium sized companies? Definitely.
It 's too expensive to start? Of course not.
It takes too long to get a basic website built? I'd say about two or three weeks.

The web is a very interesting to share information about you, your company and your products. People have made careers by specializing in areas such as Web Design and Internet Marketing. In my view, the Internet has really leveled the playing field of activity. My advice: Do not get caught behind....
