What to See in Madrid in 3 Days (Part I)

In a first day in Madrid, will start a tourist route in the Atocha Station, and emblematic place which is easily accessible (for logical reasons): it is the transport hub of the city and passes the line 1 Metro, which stops at major points of the city as Sol, Gran Via and Plaza Castilla, among others. In addition, the building of the nineteenth century, it is very nice inside and out. If anyone is interested in the grounds is a monument commemorating the victims of the attack of 11-M, the only trace that remains of this tragic accident.

Then cross the Paseo de Santa Isabel to see the Ministry of Agriculture, which highlights the roof with the artistic whole of La Gloria flanked by two Pegasos, this is the square of the Emperor Charles V, a typical place to eat a sandwich squid.

Here lies the Museo Reina Sofia, the first museum that is part of Madrid's art triangle, in which we find works as important as Picasso's Guernica. The entry of a general tour costs 6 euros in this museum. You can find an apartment in Madrid near this area laojarte.

After the visit to this museum, we continue on the mythical Paseo del Prado, where we can walk among trees. In addition, at the beginning of this tour will see the famous hill Moyano, ie a market of books for sale typical of Madrid. Finally arrive at the Prado Museum, which is quite large and has several doors. It is one of the most important museums of the world, surpassed by little the Louvre in Paris. View the entire museum in one day is impossible, but if you like art, with about five hours you can take a quick look at everything. They emphasize, above all, the paintings of Goya, Bosch, Velázquez (Las Meninas), Rubens and Titian, but there are many more outstanding artists such as Murillo, Raphael, Van Dyck and Ribera.

After an extensive tour of art, we can go to relax the famous Retiro Park, where we can find some essential we should see:

The valley of the Absent (Tribute to the victims of 11-M).

The monument to Alfonso XII (the most representative of the park) in the middle of a pond.

The square of the fallen angel is one of the few statues of the demon in the world.

The rose garden. During the spring do contests to choose the prettiest.

Los Caprichos, a series of small buildings made by "whim" of royalty to your enjoyment as a private garden.

Seek out the door when finalicéis Alcalá visit, as it is the most historic in the Spanish capital and a symbol of Madrid. It is a monument to Carlos III ordered the king to whom also we owe the building of El Prado. Furthermore, if we go down the street of Alcala we will soon find the Plaza de la Cibeles, one of the best known of Madrid. You can see, on one side, the palace of telecommunications, most recently the town hall of Madrid, and in the street, the Bank of Spain. The American house (or palace of Linares) is located on the other side, and known for its ghost stories.

It is advisable to do the walking tour of the sights we have by the way, but it certainly is a bit tired ... You will find restaurants especially in the Paseo del Prado.
