Alternatives To Get Pregnant - that this is the Gift?
Among the alternatives to get pregnant, is the transfer of gametes into the fallopian tubes, known by its acronym in English as GIFT (Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer)
This procedure is used when the causes of infertility in couples are apparently unknown and when there are minor alterations seminal. But it is important to emphasize that despite these drawbacks, tests have shown some fertilizing capacity of sperm.
It also requires that at least one of the fallopian tubes are healthy, so that sperm can fertilize an egg in there.
In general, the GIFT is done in three stages: stimulation of ovulation, follicular aspiration and laparoscopy. At the stage of stimulation is looking to recruit as many eggs as possible from the 2 ovaries.
Then comes the stage of follicular aspiration, in which eggs are removed from inside the follicles. This is done by puncturing the ovary with a needle inserted through the bottom of the vagina. The procedure is outpatient, depending on the patient may require local or general anesthesia.
And finally laparoscopy, the stage in which is inserted into the fallopian tubes through a thin catheter eggs and sperm are separated by an air bubble. In this case, whether of general anesthesia.
The advantages of this treatment is that despite being an assisted reproduction procedure, the aim is that the fertilized egg to develop as naturally as possible in their own environment, not for in vitro fertilization is performed in the laboratory.
The disadvantages of this alternative to become pregnant, that can occur are ovarian hyperstimulation, ovarian torsion, bleeding vaginal wall damage caused by the puncture made in the stage of follicular aspiration.
