Seven reasons why you need a Strategic Planning Facilitator

A professional facilitator offers an independent perspective and open to the strategic planning process. He or she will keep the discussion focused, keep the process on track, and encourage team members to act as a peer in the process. Some organizations choose to "go it alone" and groped to lead the strategic planning process entirely "at home". In my personal and professional experiences over 35 years, I've always seen the best results of the strategic planning process when an outside professional facilitator is brought in. In fact, many of my clients come to me after having tried and failed at doing the job themselves.

Okay, when and why you should use a facilitator of strategic planning? Your strategic thinking business coach offers the following advice to answer this question. Here are seven reasons why it is recommended to hire an outside facilitator.

1. If you want a level playing field between the CEO and team members. The external facilitator has the skills to make sure that the CEO does not assume and execute the meeting.

2. If you want to increase the probability of a positive outcome. The facilitator has the experience to go through many of these and to state that experience to your advantage.

3. If you want to complete the process in a timely manner. The facilitator will undertake to do so may finish in the time available to do so.

4. When you want to attend alone. It is extremely difficult, if not possible,
For the Chief Executive Officer or other person in order to facilitate effectively, because other people still react to the CEO or person inside as their superior.

5. When you need to deal with sensitive issues and conflicts. A stranger brings the advantage of a point of view dispassionate and more effectively the arguments widespread and intense moments of the channel in moments of problem solving.

6. When the team is not making any progress. The outside facilitator will raise issues that may prevent groped and will highlight the dysfunctional behaviors that are denied.

7. When the group is confronted with complex issues and divergent viewpoints. The experience of the facilitator to help identify problems, generate options to solve problems and make decisions.
