5 steps to building a successful team

There is a 5 phase that we found to be very effective in building effective teams.

Before you begin, it is important to remember that teams exist for one reason: to get results! However, it is also important to remember that teams must be sustainable in order to continue to produce such results, that's why we look at the interrelationships between team members - to ensure that those relationships are working at the level necessary for the team to continue to produce results without being burned. Let's look at this process of building a successful team so the team can reach the next level and not only effective, but sustainable, in achieving its desired results.

1. Measuring the effectiveness of your current team

In order to help your team be more successful, it is important to look at before the team's success it is today. Measure your team can serve as a reference point for the development team, as it gives you a current assessment of your team as it exists today. The best way to do this is to measure the effectiveness of the team, which can be done in several ways:

- Personal interviews: asking each team member a specific set of questions designed to measure their effectiveness is an excellent way to know what's really going on within your team. The disadvantage of this method is that some team members will not be forthcoming with information during face-to-face interviews because they are not anonymous. The results are better when he gave the interviews are conducted by an external facilitator who will maintain individual privacy.

- Measurement Simple: A simple method to use is to ask members of the team "on a scale of 1 to 10, how effective is this team"? And see what their answers are so that you can ask some follow-up questions to learn more about their perceptions.

- Assessment tool: In our opinion, this is the best method to measure the current state of your team, because it is anonymous, unbiased, and the team members are generally very open and frank in their responses. The evaluation results are then shared with the team in a special process development team that includes exercises to help the team improve in areas needed.

2. Create your vision of a team of highly successful

This is where you can use the concept of "begin with the end in mind" Stephen Covey and others have used for years. This step is about using your imagination to create the most successful, productive, cohesive team you want! The vision of your team may include the following components:

- Team values, priorities and desired outcomes

- Organization of values, priorities and desired outcomes for this team

- I own values, priorities and desired outcomes for this team

- Factors of production: these are factors defined by Team Diagnostic International as the factors supporting the team in achieving results, performing tasks, staying on course to reach goals and objectives. They include strengths such as responsibility, decision making, goal setting, etc.

- Positive factors: these are factors defined by Team Diagnostic International as the factors that focus on the interrelationships between team members and the spirit or tone of the team as a system. They include strengths such as trust, respect, clear communication, conflict management, camaraderie, etc.

I encourage you to create your "desired team" vision with your team. Schedule a time to meet with them to allow everyone to participate in this creative process! And, remember to think out of the box - what might seem to have a team that was achieving results beyond what you think is possible today?

3. Communicate effectively

This is a huge topic that I will only be able to scratch the surface in this article! However, here are the most important tips to remember in my experience working with teams:

- Everyone receives information differently. Some people see it, others have to listen to, etc. How do you like to receive information? Remember that just because in a way that works for you, that likewise does not work for all team members.

- Find out how each person needs to receive information in order to process it. Ask your team members "how do you like to receive information?" so they can tell whether students are visual, auditory, etc. Students

- Remember to communicate important information by using different methods so that all team members receive the information you are trying to transmit.

- Check in with your team regarding your communications and ask them how they can improve.

4. Develop a plan to transform your vision into reality team

Now that you measure the current effectiveness of your team, you have created a vision of your desired team and you've decided how to communicate better with them, it's time to create a plan of action!

This step is to create goals that support to grow your team to the next level. We do complete workshops on effective goal setting and do not have enough space to go into all the details, but here are the basics:

Remember to set goals that are

- Specification

- Measurable

- Access

- Realistic

- Time oriented (make sure that every goal has a deadline!)

5. Taking a stand for your team!

If you see yourself as a "leader" of your team or a "leader" of your team or a "member" of your team, you are able to influence your team. Taking a stand for the improvement of your team! Here are a few ways you can do that:

- Remind your team members can see the vision for your team and what you can see how it is possible for your team. Remind them that you can grow to the next level! And, ask them what they need to grow to be next.

- Consider ways to build and develop your team. When was the last time your team had a meeting that was devoted to strengthening the relations of your team? When was the last time the team went out to lunch together, or did another fun activity? If you are not familiar with the types of development teams that are effective for your team, or if you do not have the time or expertise to develop a program, call an expert to help you create a program for your team.

Invest resources of time, energy and financial services in your team may be simple - should not be complicated or time consuming. The important thing is that you do something on a regular basis to keep your team motivated, committed and productive so they can produce the results that you and your organization desire! ...
